The Ultimate List of Things to do While Stuck Inside

By: Helana Mulder, Editor in Chief

1. Do Homework

I know, I know. I don’t like this one either (But that’s why I got it out of the way first in order to make room for the WAY more exciting options). But, let’s be serious. We all have to finish our assignments and they aren’t going to do themselves.

2. Make Whipped Coffee

This one is all over the internet right now. It involves whipping/whisking instant coffee, sugar, and water into this fluffy cream that you pour over milk. It looks delicious and can be a way to spice up (or ruin) your coffee game (if you even want to call it “coffee”).

3. Do Buzzfeed Quizzes

There are thousands upon thousands of Buzzfeed quizzes. I’ve already found out what flavour of pop tart I’d be, when I’m going to meet my soulmate, and which Pixar character matches my personality. Now, not all Buzzfeed quizzes are fun and games. Some involve intense trivia that only experts know. So go learn something and have fun doing it!

4. Make Buzzfeed Quizzes

Going off of number 3, did you know that you can actually MAKE your own Buzzfeed quizzes? You can pick any topic and work it into a fun quiz that anyone can do. While you don’t get paid for your contributions, it’s still a fun and entertaining way to kill time.

5. Binge “Hot Ones” on YouTube

If you haven’t seen the YouTube series Hot Ones yet, you’re seriously missing out. It’s basically a show where this dude (Sean Evans) interviews famous celebrities while eating spicier and spicier wings. It’s not only hilarious watching the celebs squirm while eating hot wings, Evans’ interviewing skills are amazing!

Here are some links to some of my favourite episodes to get you started:

6. Binge “Tiger King” on Netflix

You’ve probably been hearing about this show for a while now, but maybe you don’t know whether it’s worth your time. Let me tell you – it’s a crazy show. It has everything from murder to music to tigers to revenge. It’s about as wild as the animals that are featured on the show.

7. Do some at-home workouts

You’ve probably been sitting in your bed or couch for several hours a day and haven’t been getting a ton of exercise. It’s still important to stay moving, even if you can’t make it to the gym. Redeemer’s very own Owen Kurvits has been posting some great workouts that you can do at home. Follow him on Instagram at: @okfitnesstraining

8. Read

If you’re anything like me, you probably have a bunch of books sitting on your shelf at home that you intended on reading and just haven’t gotten around to. Now, you have no excuse why you can’t read them. Yeah, reading might not be the most fun thing in the world, but I’m sure that if you finish a book, you’ll feel so much more productive and won’t regret reading it.

9. Organize your Spotify or Apple Music playlists

I love music and I love making playlists. I can spend hours trying to find new music and organize it into one of my Spotify playlists. It’s fun to pick a theme or idea and find music that fits in that. It’s also a great idea if you need music to be productive or to study. (Also – if you want to follow me on Spotify I won’t be mad: @helanam14)

10. Do something creative!

Whether it be making a tiktok, taking some cool photos (by yourself, of course), cooking an awesome dinner for your family, baking some cookies, doing an adult colouring page, or writing a song – whatever it is – you have to get those creative juices flowing. Don’t just scroll through Instagram all day. Do something with all this time!

Well, there ya go. These are just 10 things you can do while stuck inside and I’m sure there are many many more. I know that this situation is hard and confusing, but we can still make the most of it. My mom has been saying this whole time, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” which I know sounds cheesy, but it’s what we have to do. Bask in these distractions and you’ll (hopefully) feel so much better!
